Mangalore : Mangalore CCB Police have arrested a notorious accused and his wife who were selling marijuana to the public and college students in the city.
The arrested have been identified as Vikyath AKA Vicky Bappal (28) and his wife Anjana (21).
CCB police under the supervision of CCB Inspector Mahesh Prasad and PSI Rajendra B raided a house of Kavur Sankara Nagar KC Alva Layout in Mangalore city after receiving information about the sale and consumption of banned drug ganja to the college students and public in Mangalore city. Two accused in possession of ganja have been arrested.
A total of 2,200 kg weight of Rs. 22,000 worth of ganja, cash of Rs. 1,500 mobile phone-1 and a digital weight scale were
seized and the total value of seized assets was Rs. 92,000. Many more accused are involved in this ganja sale network and the investigation continues.
The accused were subjected to a medical examination for the consumption of drugs and it was confirmed that they had consumed the drug cannabis. A total of 13 cases of assault, attempted murder, threat to life, obstruction of duty and kidnapping have been registered against Vikyath among the accused in Mangalore city’s South, North, Barke, Urwa, Rural, Kankanadi Nagar police stations.
Anjana has previously been charged with assault and attempted murder in the Kankanadi Nagar and Mangalore South Police Stations. It is said that along with the accused and his wife, they used to sell ganja to students and the public in the vicinity of educational institutes, KPT, Kadri, Jeppu Bappal on MG Road in Mangalore.
A case has been registered against the accused in Sen police station.
