Ranchi: Jharkhand Police has arrested independent journalist Rupesh Kumar Singh. In the morning, the police of Saraykela-Kharsamwa reached his house in Ramgarh.

While Rupesh’s family was sleeping, the search of his house started. Interestingly, the police had an arrest warrant against him but did not show him.

Around 5:30 am, a large number of police forces came to the house of freelance journalist Rupesh Kumar Singh in Ramgarh and searched the entire house till 1 am after showing a search warrant.

According to the search warrant, Saraykela-Kharsamwa, Kandra police station, case number- 61/21, which is a case eight months ago.

A search of the entire house from 5:30 AM to 1 PM did not indicate that there was even an arrest warrant. When all the seizure materials were prepared, Rupesh Kumar Singh was arrested and taken away after showing an arrest warrant.

It is being told that on November 17, 2021, a husband and wife were arrested in the same police station. whose connection with the Maoists was reported.

This arrest is also being reported in the same case. According to Rupesh’s wife Ipsha, the police team that came to search and arrest included the NIA and intelligence agencies besides the state police.

However, the police did not say anything officially from their side. Whereas according to the guidelines of the Supreme Court, the police must not only tell the reason for the arrest but also give the accused a chance to contact his lawyer. But Jharkhand police did nothing like that.

Rupesh Kumar Singh is already on the target of governments. The central government had placed him on the Pegasus list and was illegally monitoring his phone. But why and why the state police arrested him is still a mystery.

Experts say that Rupesh’s arrest is a clear violation of Supreme Court directives. In any case, the police should first inquire and inform the person concerned before making an arrest. While in this case no such thing was done.
