The rumour mill around Ajith Kumar’s next film AK64 has been working overtime and his management has now stepped in to set the record straight. Ajith Kumar’s manager Suresh Chandra has officially confirmed that Adhik Ravichandran continues to be at the helm of AK64, dismissing circulating reports that director Siruthai Siva had replaced him on the project.

The clarification came after a flurry of reports sparked by an unverified claim from a Tamil media platform called Valai Pechu suggested that Ajith had swapped directors for AK64, choosing to hand the film to Siva in the wake of the latter’s Kanguva underperforming at the box office. The narrative went that Ajith, who has a reputation for loyalty to filmmakers he trusts, wanted to support Siva through a difficult phase in his career. The claim spread widely, generating significant chatter among Ajith’s fanbase.

Suresh  Chandra confirmed that Adhik Ravichandran remains the director of AK64, and that no change has been made to the film’s directorial team. He further revealed that directors Siva and Venkat Prabhu are indeed in discussions for future Ajith Kumar projects placing them in the pipeline for the films that follow AK64, not as replacements within it.

Producer Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments, who was originally set to bankroll the project, has reportedly backed out of the collaboration following prolonged negotiations over budget. The film, described by Adhik as an entertainer aimed at universal audiences as distinct from the more fan-centric Good Bad Ugly. The delay in the project’s formal launch has itself fuelled much of the recent speculation.

On the creative side, the film has several exciting elements already in place. Composer Anirudh Ravichander is confirmed as the film’s music director. Mohanlal and actress Sreeleela are expected to join the cast, though these too remain to be officially announced. AK64 will mark the second collaboration between Ajith Kumar and Adhik Ravichandran after Good Bad Ugly, which delivered a strong box office performance upon its release.

For now, the message from Team Ajith is clear wait for official information, and ignore the rumours.
