Sangeetha Sornalingam, the wife of actor and TVK chief Vijay, has filed a fresh petition before a court in Chengalpattu in connection with the ongoing divorce proceedings between the couple. In the new petition, Sangeetha has sought residential rights in the Neelankarai house in Chennai and requested financial maintenance from Vijay.

In the petition, Sangeetha stated that she has been prevented from staying in the house located in Neelankarai, Chennai, which she described as the matrimonial home. She told the court that she is currently without accommodation and requested an order directing Vijay to allow her to continue residing in the property.

She also claimed that the Neelankarai property belongs jointly to both of them and that she holds a 50 per cent share in the house.

According to the petition, Sangeetha alleged that Vijay has refused to allow her access to the house. She further claimed that Vijay, through his lawyer, had informed her that she would not be allowed to stay in the house if she approached the court seeking divorce.

Sangeetha also alleged that she had made several attempts to obtain a mutual and amicable divorce, taking into account Vijay’s political circumstances, but claimed that he refused to separate despite her efforts.

The fresh petition comes after Sangeetha earlier approached the Chengalpattu Family Court seeking divorce from Vijay. In her earlier filing, she alleged that Vijay’s conduct had caused severe emotional distress and mental suffering, and she also accused him of being involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress.

Along with the request for residential rights, Sangeetha has also sought alimony and financial support. In her petition, she asked the court to direct Vijay to provide maintenance for her and their children, stating that the financial support should be determined based on his income and financial capacity.

The divorce case and the related petitions are currently under consideration before the court.
