Former AIADMK minister Rajendra Balaji, who previously served as Tamil Nadu’s Dairy Development Minister, is set to face trial in a fraud case starting July 16, 2024.

Background of the Case

Rajendra Balaji has been accused of cheating an AIADMK functionary named Vijaya Nallathambi. According to the complaint, Balaji allegedly took ₹30 lakh from Nallathambi with the promise of securing him a job in Aavin, the state-run milk cooperative.

However, after taking the money, no job was provided, and when repeated requests for a refund failed, the victim filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of a fraud case.

  • Multiple FIRs were filed against Rajendra Balaji in Virudhunagar district in 2021–2022.

The trial will be conducted at the Special Court for Prevention of Corruption Cases in Srivilliputhur Principal District Court. The court has fixed July 16 as the date to formally begin examining witnesses and evidence.
