Ramadoss vs. Anbumani Ramadoss: Internal Rift in PMK — Will It Push the Party into Crisis?

What’s really happening inside Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK)? The growing conflict between father Ramadoss and son Anbumani Ramadoss has now burst into the public eye.

The dispute reportedly began when Mukundhan, the youngest son of Ramadoss’s daughter Kanthimathi, was appointed as the PMK Youth Wing Secretary. This decision sparked controversy during the party’s recent general body meeting, where Anbumani openly opposed the announcement on stage itself.

What started there has now escalated, with Ramadoss publicly making a series of harsh accusations against his own son in press conferences.

Among the most serious allegations: Ramadoss claimed that Anbumani once threw a bottle at his own mother, reportedly after she questioned, “If this post had been given to your daughter instead of Mukundhan, would you have remained silent?”

He further accused Anbumani of lacking stage or parliamentary decorum, claiming he never lets others speak during meetings and immediately shuts down any opposition.

In an emotionally charged statement, Ramadoss even said, “Making Anbumani a Union Minister at a young age was a grave mistake and a betrayal of my values.” His tearful remarks have sent shockwaves through PMK’s ranks.

Meanwhile, Anbumani Ramadoss is now preparing to meet with party administrators and grassroots cadres — a sign that the rift is far from over.

The big questions remain:

  • What will Ramadoss do next?
  • How will the Vanniyar community and loyal PMK members, who have long trusted this leadership, respond to this internal war?
  • Will this public feud damage the party’s future beyond repair?

The coming days could be pivotal for the very survival and direction of PMK.
