Amul Kandhasami, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Valparai constituency in Coimbatore district, passed away due to cancer after treatment proved ineffective.
He was 60 years old and had been receiving treatment at Ramakrishna Hospital for the past ten days.
In this situation, he passed away yesterday as the treatment failed to yield results.
Representing the AIADMK party, he contested in the 2021 Assembly Elections from Valparai constituency and secured 71,672 votes.
He defeated the Communist candidate who contested against him by a margin of 12,223 votes.
