The results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 have brought notable achievements for candidates from Tamil Nadu, with several aspirants securing ranks among the top candidates in the country. Among them, Rajeshwari secured All India Rank 2, marking one of the highest ranks achieved by a candidate from the state in recent years. In addition, Raja Mohideen secured All India Rank 7, and several other candidates from Tamil Nadu featured within the top 100 ranks, reflecting a strong performance by aspirants from the state.

According to the results released by the Union Public Service Commission, ten candidates from Tamil Nadu secured ranks within the top 100. The performance reflects the increasing presence of aspirants from the state in the national civil services examination and highlights the role of structured preparation programmes that support candidates preparing for competitive examinations.

Role of the Naan Mudhalvan Initiative

Rajeshwari, who secured the second rank, studied under the Naan Mudhalvan initiative, a flagship programme of the Tamil Nadu government aimed at providing career guidance, training and skill development for students.

Speaking after the results, Rajeshwari acknowledged the support she received through the initiative and said, “The guidance, mentorship and structured preparation support provided through the Naan Mudhalvan initiative helped me plan my preparation effectively for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.”

Other successful candidates from the state also referred to the initiative’s role in their preparation, stating that the programme provided access to learning resources, mentorship sessions and exam-oriented training that helped them approach the examination with greater clarity.

The Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu, focuses on providing career guidance, skill development and competitive examination support for students across the state. The initiative offers structured mentoring, expert guidance sessions and learning resources for aspirants preparing for national-level competitive examinations, including the civil services.

A total of 60 candidates from Tamil Nadu cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination, and 56 of them are beneficiaries of the Naan Mudhalvan initiative.

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s Response

Following the announcement of the results, M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, congratulated the successful candidates and highlighted the role of the Naan Mudhalvan initiative in supporting aspirants from the state.

In a post on social media, he wrote, “Congratulations to all the successful candidates from Tamil Nadu in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. It is a proud moment for the state that our students have secured top ranks. The success of many candidates who benefited from the Naan Mudhalvan initiative reflects the impact of providing structured guidance and opportunities for our youth.”

He also noted that the government would continue to strengthen initiatives that support students in preparing for competitive examinations and pursuing career opportunities.

The presence of Tamil Nadu candidates in the top 10 of the UPSC Civil Services Examination after a decade, along with the large number of successful candidates linked to the Naan Mudhalvan initiative, has highlighted the growing participation of aspirants from the state in India’s premier civil services examination.
