Chennai Super Kings have never done things by halves and their announcement on Saturday has proved that once again. The franchise has unveiled ROAR’26, a first-of-its-kind mega fan event scheduled for Sunday, March 22 at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, set to bring together legends of the past, stars of the present, and one of the greatest musical minds India has ever produced.
In a post on their official social media that sent fans into a frenzy, CSK announced: “For the first time ever! CSK stars, OG Super Kings and A.R. Rahman are coming together for one unforgettable night!” Tickets go live at 11 AM on March 15 through the CSK App, the official website (www.chennaisuperkings.com), the District App, and District.in. The franchise has explicitly warned fans against purchasing through unofficial channels to avoid the risk of being misled.
The centerpiece of the evening is a reunion that CSK’s passionate “Yellow Army” has been waiting years for. The OG Super Kings the legends who built the franchise’s extraordinary legacy will return to Chepauk which includes Suresh Raina, Matthew Hayden, Murali Vijay, and S. Badrinath alongside other iconic names from CSK’s storied past. This nostalgic unit will go up against the current CSK squad in a series of high-energy, never-before-seen match-ups on the very ground where so many of their greatest moments were forged. For fans who grew up watching the Raina era, and for those who know MS Dhoni only as a finisher in yellow, the sight of these two generations sharing the Chepauk turf will be nothing short of electric.
Adding a dimension of global musical prestige to the occasion, Oscar-winning composer and music icon AR Rahman will deliver a special live performance at the stadium. According to the franchise’s official website, Rahman’s set will turn “Chepauk into a pulsating arena of music and lights, filling it with celebration and immersive fan experiences, creating memories that last a lifetime.” Few combinations capture Chennai’s soul quite like cricket at Chepauk and Rahman’s music two things the city holds most dear and ROAR’26 brings them together on a single evening.
Beyond the marquee match-up and the live concert, fans attending the event will also get the rare opportunity to watch CSK’s practice session a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the franchise prepares, with current players including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and the talismanic MS Dhoni going through their drills.
The event comes at a moment of renewal for CSK. After a difficult IPL 2025 campaign the first in the franchise’s history where they finished bottom of the table, managing only four wins in 14 matches the Yellow Army is hungry for a fresh start. ROAR’26 is clearly designed to rebuild that emotional connection with the fanbase before the first ball is bowled in anger. CSK open their IPL 2026 campaign with an away fixture against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30, with their first home game at Chepauk following on April 3 against Punjab Kings.
It is also worth noting the broader trend this signals. Mumbai Indians have similarly announced their fan event ‘The MIX’ scheduled for March 21 and 22 at Mumbai’s Jio World Garden. As IPL franchises increasingly look to build immersive, year-round identities beyond just cricket, fan experiences of this scale are fast becoming a defining feature of the modern IPL ecosystem.
For March 22, though, all roads lead to Chepauk and the roar is already building.
