Speculation surrounding a possible political alignment between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has intensified ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The discussion gained momentum after reports claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had made a significant offer to TVK founder Vijay. However, TVK leaders have rejected the reports and clarified that there are no alliance talks with the NDA.

Reports Claim BJP Offered Deputy CM Post and Seats to TVK

Media reports citing sources suggested that the BJP had offered Vijay the post of Deputy Chief Minister in a potential NDA government if TVK joined the alliance for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. The proposal reportedly included allocating around 80 seats to TVK in the 234-member Assembly.

The reports indicated that the move was aimed at strengthening the NDA’s position in Tamil Nadu, where the alliance is led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). According to the claims, attempts were made to explore the possibility of bringing Vijay’s party into the alliance as part of the NDA’s election strategy in the state.

TVK Rejects Claims of Alliance Discussions

Leaders of TVK have denied that any such discussions are taking place with the NDA. Party representatives stated that there have been no negotiations with the BJP regarding an electoral alliance.

TVK joint general secretary C. T. R. Nirmal Kumar also addressed the issue on social media and asked party members and supporters not to believe rumours regarding a possible alliance.

He said that if there were any political decisions or alliance developments, they would be announced officially by the party leadership, and he urged cadres to rely only on confirmed information from the party.

They also clarified that reports suggesting Vijay had been offered the Deputy Chief Minister’s post were speculative. TVK leaders reiterated that the party has not held talks with the BJP about joining the NDA and that its political decisions will be announced through official channels.

The party has previously indicated that Vijay will be its chief ministerial candidate in the Assembly elections.

BJP Leaders Dismiss Alliance Speculation

Leaders from the BJP have also denied that negotiations are underway with TVK. Nainar Nagendran, president of the party’s Tamil Nadu unit, said that the reports about alliance talks with Vijay’s party are rumours and that there have been no discussions about offering the Deputy Chief Minister’s post.

He stated that the BJP continues to work within the existing NDA alliance framework in Tamil Nadu, which includes the AIADMK and other partners.

Jayakumar Says Alliance Would Benefit Vijay

Amid the ongoing speculation, AIADMK leader D. Jayakumar commented on the debate surrounding a possible alliance. He said Vijay would gain politically if he chose to align with the AIADMK-led alliance.

Jayakumar said, “If Vijay joins the AIADMK alliance, he will be a gainer; otherwise, he will be a loser.”
