Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin intensified his attack on the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during campaign rallies ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, accusing the opposition of supporting policies that harmed the state and its people.

Addressing a public meeting in Tiruchirappalli, Stalin alleged that the AIADMK played a key role in the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by supporting it in Parliament. He said that when protests erupted against the law, “thousands were attacked,” and claimed that “their bloodstain is on the hands of AIADMK.”

Stalin also alleged that the AIADMK had compromised Tamil Nadu’s interests through its alliance with the BJP. He described AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami as a “complete Sanghi” and accused the party of aligning closely with the BJP’s ideology, stating that the alliance had “betrayed” the people of the state.

The Chief Minister further warned that if the BJP and its allies came to power, they could take decisions affecting the identity of Tamil Nadu. He alleged that there could be attempts to alter the state’s name and asserted that his government would oppose any such move.

Stalin stated that Tamil Nadu had remained free from caste and communal clashes, contrasting it with BJP-ruled states and attributing this to the policies of his government. He said the upcoming election would be crucial in determining the state’s direction on issues related to governance, identity, and social harmony.
