The teaser of the upcoming Tamil film ‘TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram’, starring actor Natty Nataraj (Natarajan Subramaniam), has triggered controversy after sections of the audience and political supporters alleged that it indirectly references actor-politician Vijay and his political journey. The teaser, which presents Natty as a popular film star named “Golden Star” entering politics, quickly gained traction online, with viewers pointing out similarities in appearance, costume, and mannerisms between the character and Vijay.
Responding to the criticism, Natty Nataraj clarified that the film is not targeted at any individual. He stated, “This film is not against anyone,” and added, “Vijay is my close friend. There is no intention to hurt him or any political leader.” He further explained that the story is a work of fiction rooted in a broader political backdrop, saying, “It is a political satire based on many developments over the years, not about one person.”

The actor also urged audiences not to draw conclusions based solely on the teaser. He said, “Do not judge the film with just the teaser. Watch the full film and then decide.” Reiterating his stance, he maintained that the narrative does not mock or criticise any contemporary political figure and was conceived independently.
Actor Thambi Ramaiah, who is part of the film, also addressed the issue and denied the allegations. He said, “The story was written long before recent political developments. It does not target Vijay or anyone else.” He added that the film has been made carefully to avoid offending individuals or groups and described it as a general political satire.
