Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Saturday addressed a booth committee conference of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tirupathur, where he outlined the party’s election strategy and criticised opposition parties ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Stalin urged party workers to intensify grassroots campaigning and set a specific target for booth-level mobilisation. “Each booth committee member should ensure at least 50 votes. If that happens, we can win more than 200 assembly constituencies,” he said.
The conference was held near Mandalavadi, close to Jolarpettai, and was attended by senior party leaders and booth-level functionaries. The meeting was organised as part of the DMK’s preparations for the upcoming elections.
During his speech, Stalin highlighted the state government’s welfare initiatives, particularly the Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, under which eligible women receive monthly financial assistance. “More than 1.3 crore women are benefiting from this scheme,” he said, adding that it was one of the key programmes aimed at improving household financial security.
Referring to opposition criticism of the scheme, Stalin said, “Some vested interests are trying to stop or discredit people-centric schemes, but such attempts will not succeed.”

‘DMK is a super-fast engine’
A major portion of Stalin’s speech was directed at the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Using a metaphor, Stalin said, “DMK is a super-fast engine. The BJP is a faulty engine. Tamil Nadu will not accept their model of governance.”
He also criticised AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, alleging inconsistency in political positions. “EPS has no clear stand. He speaks one thing today and another tomorrow. There is no vision for Tamil Nadu in his politics,” Stalin said.
Without naming the BJP directly at one point, Stalin stated, “Some forces sitting in Delhi and their agents in Tamil Nadu are trying to interfere with the rights of this state. The people will give them a fitting reply.”
Concluding his address, Stalin urged party workers to take the government’s schemes and achievements to every household. “Go door-to-door, explain what this government has done, and ensure people participate in large numbers in the coming election,” he said.
