Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday responded to remarks made by TTV Dhinakaran, stating that he was ready to quit politics if anyone could specify the mistake he had committed.
Speaking to reporters in Theni district, O Panneerselvam reacted to TTV Dhinakaran’s allegation that he was prepared to do “anything for position.” O Panneerselvam said, “I have great respect for TTV Dhinakaran.” He added, “I know how to speak more than him; I have refrained from speaking because of political civility.”
On questions about his political future, including whether he would contest again from the Bodinayakanur constituency, O Panneerselvam said, “That decision is up to God.” When asked about internal issues within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, O Panneerselvam did not directly respond to specific leaders but indicated that he had always maintained restraint in his public remarks.
Referring to his long association with the AIADMK, O Panneerselvam said, “Amma appointed me as Chief Minister twice,” recalling his tenure under former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. O Panneerselvam stated that he had stood by the party during challenging periods and had remained committed to its principles.
Questioning the circumstances surrounding his removal from the party, O Panneerselvam said, “They must tell me what mistake I committed.” He further declared, “If you say what wrong I did, I am ready to quit politics.”
O Panneerselvam also said that some had suggested he should start a separate political party, but he had rejected such proposals.
TTV Dhinakaran, who leads the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, had earlier criticised O Panneerselvam’s political stance, which led to the exchange of statements.
