Former AIADMK Minister D. Jayakumar, a senior leader who served as Speaker and Minister during the Jayalalithaa era, is now reportedly unhappy within the party.
What Happened?
- In the recent Rajya Sabha elections, AIADMK secured two seats.
- Jayakumar strongly believed one seat would be given to him, but Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) overlooked him.
- This has left Jayakumar deeply disappointed and angry, sources say.
- It is also said that he skipped a few party events recently as a mark of protest.
What Did He Say Publicly?
Two days ago, when asked by a journalist on his way to Coimbatore if he was upset about not getting the seat, Jayakumar gave a vague reply, neither confirming nor denying it, and said he was in a hurry to Pollachi and would talk in detail later.
What Senior Leaders Claim
Some senior AIADMK insiders insist this is just gossip, saying Jayakumar has always preferred state-level politics over a Parliament post.
What Close Circles Confirm
However, sources close to him confirm:
✅ He is genuinely hurt and upset.
✅ He is particularly annoyed that EPS himself once encouraged him to criticise the BJP, but has now formed an alliance with the BJP, adding to his frustration.
In short, while some call it rumour, trusted circles say Jayakumar is indeed disappointed — both with Rajya Sabha seat denial and the renewed BJP alliance.
