EPS Says No Hesitation to Remove Sengottaiyan Amid Growing Tension in AIADMK
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has made a strong statement regarding senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, saying that he has “no hesitation in removing him from the party if necessary.”
Speaking to reporters in Madurai, EPS responded sharply to questions about Sengottaiyan’s recent public appearances with O. Panneerselvam (OPS) and T.T.V. Dhinakaran during the Guru Pooja of Muthuramalinga Thevar. The event, which drew attention for reuniting former AIADMK leaders, has reportedly unsettled the party leadership.
EPS, while addressing the media, emphasized that discipline remains a core principle of the AIADMK. He stated that any member acting against the party’s unity and ideology would face consequences, regardless of their seniority or past contributions. His remarks were seen as a direct warning to Sengottaiyan, who is considered a respected veteran within the organization.
However, despite the bold statement, party cadres remain puzzled as to why no immediate action has been taken so far. Many believe EPS is treading carefully, balancing internal politics while maintaining control over the party’s image ahead of upcoming elections.
Political analysts suggest that this development highlights the ongoing power struggle and internal divisions within AIADMK. The reunion of OPS, Sengottaiyan, and Dhinakaran last week already sent shockwaves through the political landscape, and EPS’s comments have added fuel to the fire.
While Sengottaiyan has not officially responded to EPS’s remarks, insiders say the senior leader is closely observing the situation. Whether this will lead to disciplinary action or further negotiations remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — AIADMK’s internal dynamics are once again under the spotlight.
