Tamil Nadu Launches Financial Assistance Scheme for 17 Lakh New Women Beneficiaries
The Tamil Nadu government has officially launched a new phase of its women’s financial assistance scheme, extending benefits to 17 lakh additional women across the state. The announcement was made during a state-level function where Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted the government’s continued commitment to women’s welfare and economic empowerment.
Under this expansion, 17 lakh newly approved beneficiaries will begin receiving financial aid directly in their bank accounts. This initiative is part of the state’s ongoing effort to reduce financial burden on households and support women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The scheme is an extension of Tamil Nadu’s flagship Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam (Women’s Rights Grant), which has already enrolled 1 crore 14 lakh women as monthly beneficiaries. With the addition of the new batch, the scheme’s reach and impact continues to grow significantly.
Officials stated that meticulous verification processes were carried out to ensure that only eligible women were included in the new list. The government has also assured that the remaining applicants whose applications were under review will receive updates in the coming weeks.
The launch of the new financial aid phase is being widely welcomed, as it represents another strong step toward economic inclusivity and women-centric development in Tamil Nadu.
