Raghav Chadha is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha and a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Born in 1988 in Delhi, he is among the younger faces in national politics and trained as a chartered accountant before entering public life. He began his career in finance, working with global firms, before joining the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, which later evolved into the formation of AAP.
Chadha was part of AAP’s early core team and worked closely on policy and financial matters for the party. He first gained electoral prominence after winning the Rajinder Nagar Assembly seat in Delhi in 2020. During his tenure in the Delhi government, he served as vice chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, where he was involved in issues related to water supply, sewerage management and urban infrastructure.
Chadha played an important role in AAP’s expansion beyond Delhi, particularly in Punjab, where he was involved in strategy and organisational work ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in 2022, becoming one of the youngest members of the Upper House at the time. His parliamentary work has included participation in several committees related to finance, defence, housing and external affairs, reflecting his involvement in legislative affairs at the national level.
In Parliament, Chadha has raised issues ranging from economic concerns to public welfare topics, including financial market volatility and consumer rights. His interventions and visibility helped position him as a key spokesperson for the party in the Rajya Sabha.
Removal as Rajya Sabha deputy leader
On April 2, 2026, AAP removed Raghav Chadha from the post of its deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and appointed party MP Ashok Mittal as his replacement. The party formally communicated the decision to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
Along with the leadership change, the party also requested that Chadha not be allotted speaking time in the House from its quota, indicating a reduction in his parliamentary role within the party structure.
The move is seen as part of a broader reshuffle in AAP’s parliamentary strategy. However, the party has not officially stated the reasons behind the decision, even as the development has drawn attention to internal changes in leadership roles.
Raghav Chadha’s reaction and social media post
Following his removal as the AAP’s Rajya Sabha deputy leader, Raghav Chadha did not issue any detailed public statement addressing the development directly. However, he shared a post on social media platform X that drew attention for its indirect messaging.
In the post, Chadha shared a video featuring an “evil eye” symbol, a motif often associated with warding off negativity. The post did not include an explicit caption explaining the context, but the timing, coming shortly after his removal from the leadership position, led to interpretations that it was a subtle response to the development.
